Safe airspace during blasting work thanks to real-time situational awareness with TraX
Frankfurt, 30.07.2025 - Last Sunday, the third "White Giant" was blown up in Duisburg. Droniq GmbH supported the police and public order office in drone reconnaissance on behalf of the city of Duisburg with its TraX live air situation.
In order to ensure safe air traffic in the airspace close to the ground during the demolition, it was necessary to make both authorized and unauthorized air traffic visible. The basis for this was Droniq's TraX software. This shows drone pilots the air traffic around them in real time. To do this, the system collects all detection signals emitted by manned and unmanned aircraft. The drone pilot can thus see at all times which road users are in their vicinity - including altitude, speed and direction information. A warning system also uses visual and acoustic signals to inform the pilot of approaching air traffic so that he can take evasive action if necessary.
By providing the TraX software to the drone pilots commissioned for the demolition, they were able to safely coordinate their flight activities at all times. At the same time, Droniq used the software's warning system to inform the authorities about unauthorized drone flights. For this purpose, it was also necessary to detect "invisible" drones. This refers to drones that do not use a remote ID - a type of digital license plate - to identify themselves. To meet this requirement, Droniq coupled the TraX airborne system with its drone detection system. The system detects the frequency bands used by drones and can therefore determine the position of both the drone and the pilot. This enabled TraX to detect and display both cooperative and uncooperative air traffic.
"At major events, it unfortunately happens time and again that many unauthorized drones fly, for example to take good pictures," says Droniq CEO Jan-Eric Putze. "However, such flights pose a safety risk, both for bystanders and for the drone pilots who are deployed here for reconnaissance and documentation. With our aerial situation including the coupling with a drone detection system, we have shown how safe air traffic can be guaranteed at all times, even at larger events."
The topic of visibility in ground-level airspace is one of Droniq's core objectives in order to further promote the safe use of unmanned vehicles. A new subscription model to be launched in August this year will ensure that the aerial situation can be made available to the widest possible range of users in future.

About Droniq GmbH
Droniq GmbH is a joint venture founded in 2019 by DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung (51% share) and Deutsche Telekom (49% share). Based in Frankfurt am Main, the company's mission is to promote the professional and safe use of drones by public authorities and organizations with security tasks, as well as by companies.
The core of Droniq's product offering is the Droniq Traffic Management System for Drones (UTM). The UTM shows the pilot all surrounding air traffic - manned and unmanned. Furthermore, the other air traffic participants can also see the drone if necessary. With this system, which is unique in Germany, Droniq creates the basis for using drones safely beyond visual range.
Other services offered by Droniq include the sale of drones for commercial and government use, as well as hardware and software solutions for safe operation. Furthermore, the company supports its customers in applying for operating permits and advises on mission planning. With its Drones-as-a-Service division, Droniq also carries out aerial surveys for its customers as needed and handles all related requirements.
With its Droniq Academy, located in Frankfurt and Mönchengladbach, Droniq also offers the opportunity to complete training courses and exams for remote pilots. Droniq's customers include federal and state police units, fire departments, rescue services, and companies in the chemical, logistics, construction, and security sectors.
