Atom UAV is a fully featured FLARM system in a tiny package that provides detection and avoidance of more than 50,000 manned aircraft. It is based on the new FLARM Atom platform. The Atom UAV colision warning system combines a FLARM radio transceiver. In addition, Atom UAV complies with the relevant FCC and EN/ETSI standards.
The Atom UAV FLARM device is a standalone device that has a JST-GH connector on its housing, which is used by many UAV flight control platforms. It transmits traffic information in either MAVLINK or JSON protocol format. Traffic information is output over Wi-Fi or the serial port in a unified stream, which in turn combines ADS-B and FLARM traffic and dynamically selects the higher quality source. Several streaming formats are available: JSON, MAVLINK and GDL90.
On MAVLINK based systems Atom UAV delivers HEARTBEAT and VEHICLE_ADSB messages. In addition, the configuration interface is implemented via the PARAM_REQUEST_xxx mechanism. Systems supporting GPS_RAW_INT and SYSTEM_TIME messages can override the built-in GNSS receiver and feed their own navigation solution.
Atom UAV is compatible with all FLARM devices.
