Building inspection in transition

We are currently experiencing a change in the world of building inspection. Instead of traditional methods, contractors and engineers are increasingly turning to the latest technology - drones. An exciting project recently took us high above the A-29 Hunte bridge near Oldenburg, where we ventured a glimpse into the future of structural monitoring in cooperation with our partner PV Drohne Oldenburg.

Challenge accepted: Drone versus traditional inspection

Our mission was clearly defined: We wanted to compare conventional inspection, which is based on cranes, human intervention and hands-on inspections, with modern drone inspection. An exciting experiment that raised many questions. How quickly can a drone capture such a large structure? What quality can we expect from this innovative method?

Technological flights of fancy: DJI Matrice 350 RTK and P1 camera in action

For our project, we relied on state-of-the-art technology - the DJI Matrice 350 RTK with a P1 camera equipped with a 50mm lens. This combination not only promised breathtaking aerial shots, but also the possibility of creating a high-resolution 3D model of the bridge afterwards. A step into the future of structural inspection.

The drone inspection in a practical test: Conclusion and findings

The result of our experiment was clear: the drone cannot completely replace conventional inspection. Nevertheless, it opens up completely new possibilities in the field of monitoring and surveillance of structures. The speed with which the drone was able to capture the bridge was impressive. The quality of the images enables us to document damage more precisely and monitor it better.

Shaping the future: Drones as the key to efficient building monitoring

Innovation is the key to further development. Our experience with drone inspection shows that we can significantly improve the safety and efficiency of structural monitoring by using the latest technology. The drone will not replace traditional inspection, but it expands our toolbox and enables us to view structures from a previously unattainable perspective.

The A-29 Hunte Bridge was just the beginning. We are excited to see how this innovative technology will transform the construction industry in the future.
