Surveying and inspecting construction sites, as well as checking the progress of construction, can be done faster, more accurately and more economically by drone.

5G: City. Country. Saving Lives is a BMDV-sponsored funding project that focuses on further improving the rescue chain with the help of the new 5G mobile communications technology. From emergency calls to first aid to the work of the emergency services. The potential users are the citizens who benefit from a more effective rescue operation. More effective means more targeted and faster. Of course, the alarmed emergency services also benefit from improved information provision. The concepts to be developed start before and after the arrival of the rescue forces, i.e. the affected emergency patient, the person reporting an emergency call or the first responder. Emergency responders benefit at the following points: Control centers, managers of the emergency organizations and the rescue forces (fire department and rescue service) themselves.

With the growing relevance of Urban Air Mobility (UAM), the requirements for the environmental detection of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) are constantly increasing. Static obstacles must be reliably detected, especially for ground-level missions. While 3D maps are established for autonomous driving, methods for machine-readable digitization of the lower airspace must be developed for UAM in order to create the redundancies required for Beyond-Visual-Line-Of-Sight (BVLOS) flight.

The aim of the project is to create a coordinated airspace for both manned and unmanned aviation and to enable their use.

AMI-PGS (Air Mobility Initiative - Positioning & Guidance Systems) has as its overall objective to enable the integration of eVTOLs into existing air traffic and thus increase the safety and efficiency of aircraft movements. AMI-PGS is part of the Air Mobility Initiative (AMI), which is funded by the Free State of Bavaria and the Federal Republic of Germany and initiates a number of research projects.
