Standstill with approvals - progress with technology
Whether for inspections, security or rescue operations: The potential uses of drones are constantly growing. However, long approval processes are slowing down development in Germany. "Our customers know that approvals are the biggest obstacle," says Jan-Eric Putze, CEO of Droniq GmbH. Projects often have to be postponed, even though the technology and demand have long been available.
U-Space: Europe's regulations on hold
The EU regulation on U-Space came into force in 2023 - but it has not yet been implemented in Germany. As a result, there is a lack of clear responsibilities and procedures for safely and efficiently integrating drone flights into the airspace. Dr. Markus Biedermann from DFS believes that politicians and the EASA are primarily responsible here: "There are still many unanswered questions - such as who should provide the airspace information."
