Droniq press release: Droniq reveals next development step in industrial drone use

Frankfurt, May 22, 2023 - Droniq GmbH has received Europe's first operating license for the DJI Dock drone-in-a-box system. With this, Droniq sets the course to enable industrial and BOS customers to perform automated drone operations in the future. In addition to obtaining the operating license for conducting flights beyond the pilot's line of sight (BVLOS), Droniq is taking care of the system's integration into the airspace and secure data processing.

Drone-in-a-box (DIB) systems simplify drone operations. A ground station containing the drone charges it and keeps it ready for operation. As a result, the drone is ready for takeoff at any time. Deployment is also automated. The weatherproof station opens and the drone flies a pre-programmed route. It then returns to the box. A pilot no longer needs to be immediately on site for the mission, which can be carried out remotely. DIBs are particularly suitable for missions in which the drone flies fixed routes beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS). This results in a wide range of application examples, such as the monitoring of critical infrastructure, the inspection of construction sites or the use of the system by plant fire departments.

With the DJI Dock, the DIB of the world's leading civilian drone manufacturer DJI will enter the European market this summer. Droniq is the first company in Europe to receive an operating license for the system. This enables the full-scale use of the system. In the future, Droniq will make the expertise gained during the application process available to its customers. Initial inquiries for a DJI Dock operating license have already been received. Among them is the chemical company Röhm from Darmstadt.

"Drone-in-a-Box systems are the next development step in the market," says Droniq CEO Jan-Eric Putze. "We want to enable our customers to use these systems for themselves as quickly as possible. Therefore, we are pleased to have been the first company in Europe to demonstrate how to literally get such a system in the air using the DJI Dock. At the same time, by using our technology, we are creating the conditions for our customers to use the DJI Dock safely for all air traffic participants."

Leon Ye, Enterprise Sales Manager at DJI: "DJI is proud to enable BVLOS operations with its drone technology. Droniq is one of the leading experts in Germany on the topic of permits for drones in the Specific Category. We are very pleased to work with the company and make their expertise available to our customers. The DJI Dock opens up new opportunities for many areas that can benefit from automated flights, such as infrastructure inspection, construction site monitoring and technical surveillance."

The market launch of the DJI Dock in Germany is scheduled for the end of the second quarter. The system will then also be available via Droniq. You can find out more here.
