New drones expand the operational possibilities of the Frankfurt Fire Department
Frankfurt am Main, November 5, 2025 - The Frankfurt Fire Department is further expanding its drone activities. Together with Droniq GmbH, it is modernizing its fleet, expanding its operational capabilities and strengthening its emergency services in the use of unmanned aerial systems (UAS).
Droniq is equipping the Frankfurt fire department with new drone technology - including the DJI Matrice 400 and the DJI M4TD, equipped with the H30T camera system, S1 searchlight and the V1 loudspeaker. The new systems enable high-resolution thermal imaging and zoom images and provide dense situational images even in darkness or smoke. This allows emergency crews to locate hot spots more quickly, search for people more precisely and assess operational situations more safely.
"With the procurement of the new operational drones, the Frankfurt am Main Fire Department is keeping pace with advances in the state of the art so that the range of services for the protection of the city's citizens is maintained at a high level," says Marcel Röder, Operations Department of the Frankfurt am Main Fire Department.
The Frankfurt fire department has been using drones for several years now. So far, the flying helpers have been used for searching for people and reconnaissance measures as part of situational awareness. In future, new areas of application such as indoor reconnaissance are to be added to the existing fields of activity. Droniq will provide the fire department with practical training so that they can make the best possible use of the new technology. The aim is to integrate the new systems efficiently and safely into existing operational procedures.
